With one of the largest recorded underground networks, this phylum can also produce some of the largest above ground blooms. They tend to be competitive to other species requiring similar soils and food, and often block valuable light from their immediate neighbors. On a positive note, however, they dependent on many unique mutualistic relationships over extremely vast areas, allowing a handful of other phylum to also flourish.
