Perhaps the most fascinating aspects to this phylum are the elaborately animated stages of bloom and its unique spore dispersal. Soft, feather-like growths house the millions of spores which are covered in a sweet substance that is attractive to small creatures. The spores themselves, however, have a toxic shell. Depending on the consumer, the spores can either be passed in droppings, regurgitated, or even kill the consumer, transporting them to a variety of hard to reach places.
